Peace Bridge Will Light Up True Blue and White to Honor Inauguration of UB's 15th President

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The Buffalo and Fort Erie Peace Bridge Authority will bathe the Peace Bridge in blue and white lights from 8 p.m. Sept. 19 to 2 a.m. Sept. 20 to salute the inauguration of Satish K. Tripathi, PhD, 15th president of the University at Buffalo, and in recognition of Inauguration Week at UB, Sept. 19-24.

UB's school colors are blue and white.

Tripathi's inauguration will take place at 3 p.m. Sept. 23, an event surrounded by a week of celebratory events, to which the public is invited. Inauguration Week details and an events calendar are available at http://www.buffalo.edu.

The theme of the celebration, "Local Impact, Global Reach," focuses on changes brought about by UB scholars, researchers and educators that make the world a better place in which to live.

A broad range of inaugural events will emphasize the university's excellence in research, education and service; its efforts to create a vibrant and healthy community, and the many ways in which its faculty, students and staff engage the Western New York community and the world beyond.

One of the principal creators of the UB 2020 strategic vision for achieving academic and research excellence, Tripathi is internationally recognized as an accomplished researcher and transformative higher education leader. His vision for UB's future focuses on moving the university into the highest ranks of the nation's leading research universities through expanding its reach and impact locally as well as globally.
