Media briefing: Chilean geologist and UB psychologist to discuss rescue of miners

A University at Buffalo geologist from Chile and a UB psychologist and stress expert will be available to discuss the rescue of Chilean miners at a media briefing to be held at 11 a.m. today in 209 Park Hall on the UB North Campus.

Joaquin Cortes, PhD, UB visiting assistant professor of geology, is a Chilean native and a former staff member of the Chilean government's geological survey. He will discuss Chilean mining conditions and some of the cultural and political issues that have arisen as a result of the disaster.

UB psychology professor Michael Poulin will discuss the psychological state of the rescued Chilean miners and the effect this positive news story could have on people worldwide.
