It's Back-to-School Time at the University at Buffalo

Students will be welcomed back to the University at Buffalo campus this weekend with a variety of activities, including fairs, food, music and movies designed to get the academic year off to an enthusiastic start.

More than 3,100 freshmen will be starting off their academic careers and more than 28,000 students in all will be enrolled this semester at UB, which was ranked recently by U.S. News and World Report as one of the nation's top public universities.

In addition to assisting students moving back into UB's residence halls and apartments, the university will hold campus fairs from 1:30-3:30 today (Friday, Aug. 27) in the Student Union on the North Campus to acquaint students with UB resources, campus jobs and to help them set up bank and cell phone accounts.

At 3:30 p.m. today, 1,000 students will gather on Clemens Field by The Commons to form the sixth annual Human UB logo. A New Student Picnic will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Baird Point, followed by the Concert at the Point featuring More than Me at 7 p.m.

UB will hold its Welcome Back Bash, featuring music, food and dancing, from 9:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, in the Student Union.

And Sunday's activities will include a performance by the UB Marching Band at 6 p.m. on Kunz Field on the North Campus; Movie Night at 9:30 p.m. where students can kick back under the stars and watch a movie in the field on Lee Road, or in the comfort of the Student Union Theatre, both on the North Campus, will be followed by a late night pancake breakfast at 10:30 p.m. in the Student Union Lobby.
