BUFFALO, N.Y. –-- The Center for the Arts and the Department of Theatre and Dance at the University at Buffalo will present "Steel Pier," Nov. 18-21 and Dec. 2-5 in the Drama Theatre, located at in the Center for the Arts on the UB, North (Amherst) Campus. Media sponsor is WBFO 88.7 FM.

From the songwriting duo that brought you "New York, New York," the hit movie musical "Chicago", and the long-running "Cabaret," comes "Steel Pier." In the grand tradition of the great movie musicals "Steel Pier" unwinds a tale of second chances set against a dance marathon in Atlantic City's famous Steel Pier in 1933. The plot and the score are skillfully interwoven skillfully -- and the stage pulsates with the jazzy, big band rhythms of the era. An impressive, bright, talented cast is lead by the award-winning director/choreographer Lynne Kurdziel Formato.

Performances will be held at 8 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, and at 2 p.m. on Sundays. Tickets are $15 for general admission and $6 for students and senior citizens. For more information, call 645-ARTS.
