BUFFALO, N.Y. -- J. Warren Perry, dean emeritus of the University at Buffalo School of Health Related Professions, has received the 2001 Editor's Award from the Journal of Allied Health.

The award was presented by the Association of Schools of Allied Health Professions on the occasion of 30th anniversary of the journal. It recognizes Perry's foresight in inaugurating the journal in 1971 and his significant contributions to it during the past 30 years.

Founding dean of UB's School of Health Related Professions from 1966 until his retirement in 1977, Perry in 2000 received the UB Alumni Association's Walter P. Cooke Award, presented to a non-alumnus for notable and meritorious contributions to the university.

A gift from Perry in 1988 inaugurated the annual J. Warren Perry Lecture of the UB School of Health Related Professions.

His extensive work in the field of allied health has earned him recognition in "Who's Who in the World," "Who's Who in the U.S.," and "Who's Who in Medicine and Health Care."
