BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Cynthia M. Shore, assistant dean and director of the Career Resource Center in the University at Buffalo School of Management, has been elected president of the MBA Career Services Council (MBA CSC).

The MBA CSC is a global association of graduate-management, career-services professionals whose membership includes representatives from 100 business schools. The group is responsible for the development and promotion of standards to be used by business schools when reporting the employment data of their MBA graduates.

The MBA CSC's standards have been adopted by Business Week and U.S. News and World Report, which publish rankings of MBA programs based partly on employment data reported by the schools, such as average starting salary of graduates and percentage of students employed at graduation.

"A major focus of our mission is to ensure that students and employers have access to accurate and reliable data when making their enrollment and recruitment decisions," says Shore.

Founded in 1994, the MBA CSC provides a forum for the exchange of ideas and information unique to MBA career-services professionals, promotes collaboration and cooperation among business schools and provides professional-development and networking opportunities for its members.

Additional information about the MBA CSC can be found on its Web site at http://www.mbacsc.orge.

A resident of Kenmore, Shore has headed the UB School of Management Career Resource Center since 1995. During her tenure, the center has earned awards for technological innovation and for excellence in professional-development programming from the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) and from the State University of New York Career Development Organization (SUNYCDO), respectively.
