The University at Buffalo has received a $1.1 million award from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Fogarty International Center to lead the training of 15 scientists from Jamaica and the Caribbean in viral infection research.


The UB Research Institute on Addictions will host its third Student Research in Addiction Sciences Open House on April 25 to showcase the collaborative addictions research work conducted across many disciplines at UB.


The projects will receive a total of $134,000 from UB’s Bruce Holm Memorial Catalyst Fund.


Henry Louis Taylor, Jr. has been named the recipient of the 2018 Marilyn J. Gittell Activist Scholar Award, which recognizes the work of activist urban scholars.


Fifteen University at Buffalo students have received 2018 SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Student Excellence, presented to them by SUNY Chancellor Kristina M. Johnson April 10 at an awards ceremony in Albany.


Both students are part of UB’s growing Asian languages programs.


The rankings are based on surveys of administrators at more than 1,970 programs and more than 16,500 academics and professionals.


William J. Jusko, PhD, SUNY Distinguished Professor in the University at Buffalo School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, received the 2018 Oscar B. Hunter Career Award in Therapeutics from the American Society for Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics (ASCPT).
