BUFFALO, N.Y. – City of Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown will appear at the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Apr. 1 in Squire Hall to proclaim Apr. 6 through Apr. 12 National Prosthodontics Awareness Week in Buffalo (NPAW).

BUFFALO, N.Y. – Gail D’Eramo Melkus, EdD, C-NP, FAAN, the Florence and William Downs Professor in Nursing Research and director of the Muriel and Virginia Pless Center for Nursing Research at New York University will present the annual Margaret A. Nelson Lecture at 2 p.m. on March 28 in 114 Wende Hall on UB’s South Campus.

BUFFALO, N.Y. – University at Buffalo alumnus and tobacco industry whistleblower Jeffrey Wigand will be at UB to talk about his experience with the tobacco industry at 9:30 a.m. Friday, March 28th, in 125 Kimball on the South Campus.

Among the 230,000 University at Buffalo alumni around the world, only a handful are selected annually to receive an award from the UB Alumni Association. This year the honorees include Jeffrey Wigand, who became a whistle blower against the tobacco industry; Jeffrey Umland, who designed the landing gear for the Mars Rover Curiosity; and Janet Litster Rideout, co-inventor of the AIDS treatment AZT.

A variety of local viewing parties will give University at Buffalo Bulls football fans the chance to mix familiar chicken wings with the potato theme of the day as fans gather on Famous Idaho Potato Bowl day to cheer for their team and reaffirm their university connection.

Wei-Loon Leong, a double alumnus of the University at Buffalo, has returned to Buffalo from China eight years after his graduation to be the university’s first director of international alumni relations.
