BUFFALO, N.Y. Once again, the University at Buffalo School of Management has been ranked a ‘best business school’ by U.S. News and World Report in its annual ranking of MBA programs.

The UB School of Management was ranked No. 70 out of 480 MBA programs surveyed, climbing three places from last year, and a total of 11 places over the past two years.

“Our efforts to recruit high-caliber students and top faculty, create outstanding learning experiences, and provide quality career development are paying off,” said Paul Tesluk, dean of the UB School of Management. “It’s gratifying to see our success reflected in our forward movement in these rankings and in our global reputation.”

The UB School of Management is the only business school in the Buffalo-Niagara region to be included in the U.S. News business school rankings.

The ranking focuses on three major areas: quality assessment, placement success and student selectivity. The quality assessment is worth 40% of the survey and includes a recruiter assessment by the companies that hire the school’s graduates and a peer evaluation by other B-school deans and directors. Placement success, worth 35%of the ranking, is based on the graduates’ mean starting salary and the employment rate at graduation and three months afterward. The final 25% of the ranking is a measure of how selective schools are in their admission criteria, including GMAT scores, undergraduate GPA and acceptance rate.

The MBA ranking is part of U.S. News and World Report’s ranking of “America’s Best Graduate Schools.” A number of other graduate programs at the University at Buffalo were ranked as well.

The UB School of Management is recognized for its emphasis on real-world learning, community and economic impact, and the global perspective of its faculty, students and alumni. The school also has been ranked by Bloomberg Businessweek, Forbes and U.S. News & World Report for the quality of its programs and the return on investment it provides its graduates.
