BUFFALO, N.Y. -- William C. Dudley, president of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, will speak at the University at Buffalo on October 27.

“How Goes the Recovery? Challenges for the Nation, the Region and the Fed” will be the topic of his address.

The UB visit will begin with an open reception from 3:30-4 p.m. in the Tiffin Room in the Student Union on UB’s North Campus, followed by Dudley’s remarks and a question-and-answer session from 4-5 p.m. in the Student Union Theater.

Both the reception and the lecture are free and open to the public.

Earlier in the day, Dudley will tour GM Powertrain Tonawanda Engine Plant. His Buffalo visit is part of a multi-city trip that includes Ithaca, Syracuse and Rochester and reflects the Fed’s efforts to strengthen ties with the local community and business leaders and discuss regional economics.

Earlier in his career at Goldman Sachs, he held a variety of roles including a stint when he was responsible for the firm’s foreign exchange forecasts. Before joining Goldman Sachs in 1986, he was a vice president at the former Morgan Guaranty Trust Company. Dudley was an economist at the Federal Reserve Board from 1981 to 1983.

Dudley received his doctorate in economics from the University of California, Berkeley in 1982 and a bachelor’s degree from New College of Florida in 1974.
