Buffalo Prep is an education nonprofit organization run by a 31-member board of directors. Buffalo Prep staff are not University at Buffalo employees; Buffalo Prep is completely funded through donations, sponsorships and other charitable contributions.  The University at Buffalo (UB) provides facilities and maintenance.

Buffalo Prep was founded in 1989 and its mission is to provide access and preparation for talented underrepresented youth to achieve success in college preparatory high schools and higher education. Buffalo Prep operates out of Acheson Annex on UB’s South Campus and provides academic, social, and cultural enrichment to over 500 college-bound students throughout its summer, after-school, and Saturday programs.
