For UB Faculty

How we can help

News

Please tell us about your projects, books, papers and presentations at professional and scientific meetings as soon as possible so that we can help you promote your work and be prepared for media inquiries. When appropriate, we also will issue a news release and/or an article for the Reporter. In some cases, a news conference or media briefing may be scheduled. Information for news releases must be received by the Office of Media Relations at least two weeks prior to an event.

Experts

We maintain on our Web site a searchable database of experts who are available to work with the news media on a variety of topics. UB faculty members and staff who are interested in working with the media should contact John DellaContrada.

Reporter

The Reporter, UB’s newspaper of record, is published on Thursdays. Issues are distributed on campus and electronically, and via email.

Whether an article will be prepared on a particular topic is determined by the editor of the Reporter. Information to be considered for use in an article in the Reporter should be submitted to Sue Wuetcher, Reporter editor, 330 Crofts Hall, North Campus; email: wuetcher@buffalo.edu or fax: 645-3765.

Publicizing your event to the media

We publicize events held on campus or sponsored by UB groups in two ways: through news releases and in “A Media Advisory Notebook,” a brief listing of events that is emailed to the media. How and whether an event is publicized is determined by Media Relations.

Information for media advisories must be received at least one week prior to the event. Information should be submitted by email or campus mail to the appropriate News Services editor or to John DellaContrada, Senior Director of Media Relations, 330 Crofts Hall, Buffalo, NY 14260; dellacon@buffalo.edu, or fax to 716-645-3765.

All submissions must be accompanied by the name of the person providing the information, an email address and a daytime telephone number where we may reach you.

Publicizing your event to the UB community

The University calendar of events is located at http://www.buffalo.edu/calendar. Events listed in this calendar are publicized on MyUB and eligible for inclusion in the Reporter.

The Reporter publishes listings for events taking place on campus, or for off-campus events where UB groups are principal sponsors. To be considered for the Reporter "Events" calendar, events must appear in the online UB Calendar of Events no later than noon on the Thursday preceding publication. Because of space limitations, not all events in the UB Calendar of Events will be included in the Reporter.

Listings for the online UB Calendar of Events are accepted only through the electronic submission form at http://www.buffalo.edu/calendar/login.
