Shauna Zorich is an expert on the spread and prevention of infectious disease, including respiratory illnesses such as influenza.

She can speak to the media about a range of topics relating to these issues, such as surveillance, vaccines and preventive measures like social distancing and handwashing. She can also discuss the history of the 1918 pandemic flu in Buffalo and in the United States, including preventive measures taken at that time to mitigate the spread of disease.

Zorich served for 5 years as an active duty military officer. She was commissioned as a U.S. Air Force captain in 2009 and promoted to rank of major in 2013. During her time in the military, she was involved in activities that included influenza surveillance.
