Qiaoqiang Gan is an expert on photonics and optoelectronics. He can speak to the media about the properties of light and how they can be harnessed for technological applications.

Gan’s research explores how materials that interact with light in intriguing ways can be used for a variety of purposes, such as for radiative cooling, detecting chemicals including drugs, and more. He is co-founder of Sunny Clean Water, a startup that is leveraging his laboratory’s discoveries to develop a portable solar still — a device that generates clean water using the power of the sun.
