Sexual rights, agency and consent; girls’ and women’s sexuality; impact of social injustice on girls’ and women’s sexual lives; sexuality education
Laina Y. Bay-Cheng can speak to the media about women’s sexuality, and women’s and young people’s sexual rights, including issues of consent, agency and sexuality education.
Bay-Cheng’s research focuses on the imprint of social injustice on young women's sexual lives, particularly misogyny, racism, economic injustice, and adultism.
She uses critical feminist theory and methods to shift attention away from individual-focused models of sexual risk and toward the systemic roots of girls' and women's sexual vulnerability.
