LGBT health, HIV prevention, migrant health

Adrian Juarez can speak to the media about issues affecting the health status of marginalized populations, such as migrants and immigrants or transgender individuals.

In recent research, Juarez detailed the social stigma the transgender population faces in the health care system — an obstacle that prevents many people from seeking the care they need.

Juarez is interested in understanding barriers to access for HIV testing for LGBT populations, particularly among Hispanics, as well as the risk of HIV infection and substance abuse within these groups.
