Search Update |
I am pleased to announce that the search for the dean of the School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences is progressing to the next and final phase. The search was announced late in the fall semester, with the recruitment period running through mid-spring. With the able assistance of Dr. Ilene Nagel, our executive search consultant from Russell Reynolds Associates, we garnered a large, diverse, and international pool of highly qualified nominations and applications. In late March and early April, after careful review of all of the nominations and applications for the position, the search committee met with thirteen of the candidates at on off-campus location. From those preliminary interviews, several exceptional individuals have been invited to return to Buffalo for a more comprehensive schedule of meetings with the university’s senior leadership team, faculty, staff, students, and selected partners and individuals from the local research and health care communities. The on-campus visits will provide for expanded participation and input in the search process, and will allow the candidates to gain a more comprehensive understanding of the exciting opportunity available for the new dean to help position UB’s School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences among the nation’s best.
Visit dates have been confirmed for the following candidates, with possible additional candidates still to be scheduled. Members of the campus community will be invited to participate, as appropriate, in selected meetings with the candidates. The candidates’ CVs will be available for review on the search web site, www.buffalo.edu/medicine-dean, at least two days prior to their scheduled visits.
