SUBJECT:   Search update: Dean of the School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences
 

Dear Colleagues,

The search for UB's dean of the School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences is progressing to the next phase.  The search committee has recently reviewed the qualifications of the large, diverse, and extraordinarily well qualified applicant pool, culled from extensive solicitation of nominations and applications, and advertising in relevant print and electronic media.  On behalf of the search committee, I offer thanks to those of you who nominated individuals for the position, and who have contributed input to the search process.  I also want to acknowledge the outstanding efforts of our search consultant, Dr. Ilene Nagel, of Russell Reynolds Associates, in identifying and cultivating such a superb candidate pool.

Thirteen individuals have been invited to come to Buffalo for preliminary off-site interviews in the coming weeks.  The initial interviews will include meetings with the search committee, as well as with Provost and Executive Vice President Tripathi and Vice President Dunn.  Following these interviews, a select number of candidates will be invited for more extended on-campus visits later in the spring.  We look forward to engaging the campus community appropriately in the final interview process.  In order to ensure the best outcome for the search and safeguard the privacy of those being considered, the identity of all candidates will remain confidential until the time of the on-campus interviews.
