On behalf of the search committee for the dean of the School of Public Health and Health Professions, I am pleased to announce that we have confirmed on-campus visits by four outstanding finalists for the dean’s position. These visits, scheduled between January 26 and February 5, will include meetings with faculty, senior academic and administrative leadership, staff, students, alumni and invited community partners.
Additional details about the campus visit schedules, as well as the names and CVs for each finalist are available online now at this link. Members of the UB faculty, staff, and student body will need to log in with their UBIT name and password to gain access to the names and CVs of these candidates.
Each of the finalists is an accomplished professional currently employed in a significant leadership role at his or her respective institution. While the candidates will participate in open meetings while at UB, we ask for your consideration in respecting their current positions by treating the news of their candidacies with the same discretion that you might request for yourself in their situation.
Invitation to public forums
We encourage all interested members of the UB community to attend the public forums with the candidates, at which they will offer an opening statement of their vision for UB’s School of Public Health and Health Professions as well as their interest in and qualifications for the dean’s position. Following the opening statement, there will be time for questions, answers and conversation with the meeting participants.
Your participation not only allows you to learn more about the finalists and to engage in conversation with them about the future of UB, but also assists our efforts to recruit the very best new dean by demonstrating that the UB community is genuinely invested in the search for its academic leadership.
Search committees seeks campus input
The search committee will convene quickly after the on-campus visits to prepare its summary report for UB’s senior leadership who will make the final decision on the appointment of the new dean. Campus input will be an important component of the search committee report.
Feedback surveys for each of the four candidates will be available here beginning the first day of their campus visits. Please take the time to complete and submit a feedback survey on as many of the candidates as your time and knowledge allow.
Thank you for your interest and participation in the search for the new dean of UB’s School of Public Health and Health Professions. Additional information and updates about the search are always available at the search website.
With best regards,
Nancy J. Smyth, Dean of the School of Social Work, and Chair of the School of Public Health and Health Professions Dean Search Committee
