School of Law Dean Search On Campus Visits Announced: February 2, 2017

Published February 2, 2017

Dear UB colleagues,

On behalf of the search committee for the dean of the School of Law, we are pleased to announce that we have confirmed on-campus visits by five outstanding finalists for the dean position. These visits, scheduled on February 9, 10, 16, 17, and 27, will include meetings with faculty, senior academic and administrative leadership, staff, students, alumni and invited community partners.

We recognize that this is a very busy time in the academic year, but the participation and input of members of the campus community is critically important to the success of this search for the dean of the School of Law. We urge all members of the UB community to review the CVs of the finalists, attend their public forums and submit input to the search committee.

Your participation not only allows you to learn more about the finalists and to engage in conversation with them about the future of UB, but also assists our efforts to recruit the very best new dean by demonstrating that the members of the UB community are genuinely invested in the search for their academic leadership.

The names and CVs of the finalists are live at this link now. Members of the UB faculty, staff and student body will need to log in with their UBIT name and password to gain access to the names and CVs of the candidates.

Invitation to public forums

Public forums with the finalists are scheduled from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. on each of the visit dates in The Francis M. Letro Courtroom (113 O’Brian Hall), North Campus.

At these sessions, the candidates will offer an opening statement of their vision for UB’s School of Law, as well as their interest in and qualifications for the dean’s position. Following the opening statement, there will be time for questions and conversation with the finalists.

The open sessions for each candidate will be webcast on live stream. The links to the webcasts will be available on the password protected page of the search website on the morning of each open session. An archive capture of each session will remain available on line until 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 2.

Search committee seeks campus input

The search committee for the dean of the School of Law and UB’s senior leadership value input from members of the campus and extended UB community. Please take the time to complete and submit a feedback survey on as many of the candidates as your time and knowledge allow. Feedback surveys for each of the five candidates will be available here beginning the first day of their campus visits.

The compiled input from these surveys will be provided to the members of UB's senior leadership team who will make the final hiring decision for the new dean. To ensure timely consideration of your feedback, please submit your feedback by 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 2.

Thank you for your interest and participation in the search for the new dean of UB’s School of Law. Additional information and updates about the search are always available at the search website.

Sincerely,

Paul Tesluk, Dean of the School of Management
