SUNY Buffalo Law School is celebrating the 125th anniversary of its founding with a yearlong series of events for alumni, faculty, students and friends of New York State’s only law school in the SUNY system.
Over 900 SUNY Buffalo Law alumni, faculty, students and
friends gathered for a memorable 125th anniversary party at the
beautifully restored Hotel @ the Lafayette in downtown Buffalo.
Festivities included live music, a visit from UB's Marching Band, a
celebratory anniversary video, a tower of illuminated cupcakes, and
a photo booth to capture memories.
Over 220 people attended this two-day conference to celebrate
the 20th Anniversary of SUNY Buffalo Law School’s Women,
Children and Social Justice Clinic, and the 50th Anniversary of New
York State Family Court. The conference brought together scholars,
advocates, and members of the judiciary & bar to discuss the
ripple effect of education, research, and advocacy on intimate
partner violence and social justice in the local, national, and
international arenas.
The 2012 James McCormick Mitchell Lecture held at the Law School
explored the legal and social challenges of caring for the personal
and medical needs of elderly and disabled persons – a topic
of current relevance for health care, Social Security, welfare and
employment law reform. The lecture was free and open to the public.
A brief reception followed.
Margaret W. Wong '76 was honored with the Edwin F.
