Dean of the Law School
Search Update

Dear UB friends and colleagues,
The search for the new dean of the Law School continues to progress. With the help of law faculty and staff, and university administration, the search committee has drafted and posted a comprehensive position profile and has advertised the position widely. The committee has sought out the advice of leaders in the field of legal education and drawn on the expertise of university faculty. With the able assistance of our search consultant, Dr. Ilene Nagel, the search committee has begun to assemble a pool of outstanding candidates exemplifying the required qualities of leadership and scholarship.
The committee will be reviewing these candidates in October and will complete confidential off-campus interviews by the end of the fall semester. Finalists are expected to visit the university during the second half of January. Members of the university and local legal communities will be invited to participate in meetings with the final candidates, and will be offered the opportunity to provide feedback on those finalists to the search committee.
The committee continues to invite nominations for the law school dean’s position, to be directed by email to ublaw-dean@RussellReynolds.com. The search firm will contact all nominees with further information about the position and an invitation to submit their CVs for formal consideration by the committee. In order to attract and retain the most qualified candidate pool, the search committee has agreed to a policy of strict confidentiality. All candidate identities will remain confidential until the time of on-campus interviews.
