Qing He, Stephen Still Assistant Professor in Transportation Engineering and Logistics at UB, was interviewed by The Weather Channel’s “Weekend Recharge” for a story about how weather-related tweets can be analyzed to bolster computer models that, among other things, recommend safe driving speeds and which roads motorists should avoid during inclement weather.

He was also featured in WKBW-TV’s monthly Buffalo Niagara 360 Spotlight Professional Series, which profiles rising young professionals making a difference in Western New York. Prof. He was selected for his research on solving transportation problems through the use of cutting-edge technology. The story notes that He worked on traffic planning for the 2012 Olympics in London, and is currently researching self-driving vehicles.

The research also was the subject of an article in First Bell, a weekday newsletter of the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE). The article is available only to ASEE members.
