What I'm studying at UB

Biomedical sciences through the Brazil Scientific Mobility Program (BSMP)

Why I chose the University at Buffalo

We choose a country where we want to study and the BSMP program organizers evaluate our portfolio to find an appropriate university. UB was the perfect place for me because of the university’s reputation as a leader in life sciences and my interest in biomedical sciences.

For me, it was UB.

I was not familiar with UB, but I went to the website. There are many researchers. I knew this was going to be a nice place to study at.

My campus activities

I have explored the region around Buffalo by attending some trips organized by the ISSS Office and by enrolling in classes that incorporate the outdoors exploration such as the "Backpacking" and "Outdoors Recreation Adventures." In addition, I attended on-campus and off-campus events in Buffalo, ranging from typical festivals and concerts to research talks.

Where I live

I live in Clement Hall on the South Campus. I try to do as many things as possible. I get involved with activities and try to make friends with everyone there. There's a little bit of home at Clement Hall, because many Brazilian students live there. I can speak Portuguese there.

What I love about UB

At UB, I'm able to have contact with people from different countries. To me, that is most important. When people think about studying abroad, they think about the quality of the education, the professors, how they’re helping their career. But I think the most important thing is the contact with people. To establish a network and to learn with people who are here from other countries.

Favorite place to study

I like the study lounge in Clement Hall.

Favorite place to eat on campus

Crossroads Culinary Center, North Campus

Interesting fact about me

I am fascinated by science and math. I am a biomedical sciences student, but I like to study medicine, physics and chemistry. I like to learn about other fields of study. I hope one day to establish my laboratory and do research, but in interdisciplinary fields, where I can use math, biology and physics.
