TC-010C Reading the Transfer Credit Summary Report Results (PDF)

Begin by navigating to the Process Transfer Credit Report page.

You can run a report by searching for an existing Run Control ID or you can Add a New Value.

In this example we will stay on Find an Existing Value and search for the Transfer Credit Report created in the "Producing a Transfer Credit Summary Report" Job Aid.

To view the report click the UB_TRNFR_CRD - UB_TRNFR_CRD.pdf link located in the Report List group box, Description column.

When reviewing this report, keep in mind that the content you see in the transfer credit report will be for incoming Fall 2011 transfer applicants only.  You will not see data for continuing students until July 2011.

This report represents a portion of the information you are used to seeing on our current DARS.  This report solely focuses on the student’s External Education and what it articulates to at the University at Buffalo.

The ‘Important’ message at the top of the report is to remind students and staff that this is a tool which may have inaccurate or missing data.  Transfer Articulation Services is still working on cleaning up and entering articulation data.  Therefore, if you or the applicant notices mistakes, please contact the appropriate offices (Admissions, TAS).

The Transfer Credit Summary Report header contains:

  * The date the report was requested

  * The name of the student with their EmplID (Person Number).

The Legend explains the report and its symbols.  The left side explains general abbreviations and the right side lists and explains the Repeat Codes.

The Transfer Course From section of the report contains the courses that the student took at another institution and displays the Institution, the Course number, the Course Description, Units, Grade, Term, and Year.

The grades are preceded with the letter "T" to indicate that they are transfer courses.

The middle column of the report displays the Repeat Codes (asterisk in front of code) which are explained in the Legend under Repeated Courses.

The Articulated to UB Courses and Units section of the report summarizes the articulated UB information and displays the Course number, course Description, Units and Grade at UB.  It matches the list of courses to the left from an external institution.

The report will include a similar section for each external institution if there is more than one institution.  There will be multiple sections for the same institution if the student brought in transfer credit at different Terms.

Each section will display a summary of information including Units Transferred, GPA Units Attempted, GPA United Earned, GPA Points and Transfer GPA.

The entire report will include an overall summary if there are multiple institutions.

Important: If you notice any of the following, please contact Transfer Articulations Services at taurus@provost.buffalo.edu.

  * Some units on the UB side of the report will display as 0.01 while the units on the transfer side show a different value. This is an artificial value created on the articulation rule during conversion for the purpose of identifying a particular type of articulation rule.

  * Courses that you know articulate to a UB course are showing up as generic credit or a placeholder.  Not all rules were able to be converted and need to be entered into the system.

A "T" in the Grade column indicates a transfer course (TA, TB+, etc.).  An "M" indicates an averaged transfer course (MA, MB-, etc.).

Notes regarding Articulated UB courses:

  * "TR 999TR" identifies a transfer elective course (formally TR0**).

  * "XXX 999TR" identifies a departmental placeholder (e.g. ECO 999TR which was formally ECO0**).

  * "NOC" as an extension has been removed from departmental placeholders (e.g. ECO 999NOC).  Courses that had these extensions on them will now have a comment that will be seen in Taurus.

  * Courses that are remedial will have "RM" located in the title, and zero credits associated with the course.

  * If a course is the first attempt of a repeat, the first attempt will be zeroed out, but the grade will still be visible.

  * Courses that are part of a ‘many’ articulation rule will be grouped together (e.g. currently the report cannot be sorted by Term due to this function).

Test Credits which include AP, CLEP, DANTES, A-LEVELS, etc. have their own headings.  This data will most likely not be populated for this group of applicants, but you may see it later for other populations of students.

Other Credits which include some military credit and experiential learning credit have their own headings.  This data will most likely not be populated for this group of applicants, but you may see it later for other populations of students.

A Run Control ID is an identifier that, when paired with your User ID, uniquely identifies the process you are running. The Run Control ID defines parameters that are used when a process is run. This ensures that when a process runs in the background, the system does not prompt you for additional values.

Use the Process Transfer Credit Report page to determine the students you want to generate a transfer credit report.
