Academic Advising and Alternative Coursework

Academic advisors are responsible for ensuring that all alternate coursework for remaining credits meets NYS LMHC standards.  Your advisor will work with you to develop a customized plan of study to help you get the courses that you need.

Licensure

  • To receive licensure as a Mental Health Counselor, you must:
  • Complete the education requirements
  • Complete a state approved supervised experience in the practice of mental health counseling
  • Receive a passing grade on the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination (NCMHCE)
