Food Equity, Power, and Justice: Academic Journal Built Environment

UB faculty member, Samina Raja, and the Community for Global Health Equity Food Equity Team have partnered with the academic journal Built Environment to produce a special issue, Planning for Equitable Urban and Regional Food Systems, focused on food equity, power, and justice. This special issue features a dozen academic articles from across high- middle- and low-income countries.

Featured in UBNow on October 17, 2017, the nine peer-reviewed articles in the issue point out three major oversights in planning practice - historical factors that contribute to food system failures are rarely confronted, marginalized voices are overlooked, and food systems aren't viewed as a lever for broader social and economic change.
