Student acting as interpretter.

Background

Children and adults with Limited English Proficiency (LEP) experience health care inequities, such as difficulty accessing

services and conveying health care needs; suboptimal communication may erode trust between patient and clinician, lead to medical errors and suboptimal health care.

The use of qualified professional interpreters can improve care quality and ultimately, health outcomes.
