Give Kids a Smile Day

Give Kids a Smile Day.

Once a year, the busy School of Dental Medicine clinics close to everyone except several hundred children who come for the school's annual Give Kids a Smile Day.

Hundreds of volunteers—from dental students to faculty to community dentists—make the day possible. The children, all prescreened to identify unmet needs, come from public high schools, elementary schools and local head start centers. They receive free dental exams, fluoride treatments, X-rays and sealants. Each leaves with a toothbrush, toothpaste, dental floss and instructions on how to keep teeth healthy.

Children with immediate needs receive limited restorative dental work or referrals for additional treatment or consultation as needed.  Everyone benefits, everyone smiles.
