You help stop bullies by supporting research by expert faculty and staff like Amanda Nickerson, director of the Alberti Center for Bullying Abuse Prevention.

Reports of school shootings and bullying incidents have increased at a rapid and frightening rate.

UB experts like Amanda Nickerson, director of the Alberti Center for Bullying Abuse Prevention, work to respond quickly to such occurrences by providing solid research that guides decisions on how best to stop shooters and bullies. Annual gifts to the university provide critical resources to help Nickerson and her research team find the answers that save lives.

Counseling and school psychology graduate student Jilynn Werth, PhD ’16, one of Nickerson’s assistants, studied the role of bystanders to bullying, particularly abuse of disabled people, while earning her UB doctoral degree. Now an intern psychologist at a Pennsylvania school, Werth valued the opportunity the financial support gave her “to work on a research team and learn about a topic I had become passionate about.” Your gifts will help UB researchers work faster to eliminate senseless violence in our schools.
