Conference Sponsorship Opportunity for UBMD

GEM will sponsor a limited number of UBMD physicians to attend precision medicine conferences from September 2017-July 2018. These conferences provide the opportunity for physicians to learn more about how to translate the promise of genomic medicine—including pharmacogenomics—into practice.  

Who is eligible?

  • Current residents in UB medical training programs; preference given to individuals anticipating a career in primary care, but all may apply.
  • Currently practicing UBMD primary care physicians.

Applicants will be asked to give a brief, informal talk to the GEM Community of Excellence (at a time of mutual convenience) or to respond to interview questions to share new and interesting scientific findings with potential or current clinical applications that may be of interest to a local audience. 

How will selection be made?

The GEM team will review applicants and make selections on a rolling basis through June 2018. Winners of the conference sponsorship award will be notified via email. 

What costs are covered?

Costs will be covered in accordance with the UB travel guidelines (available online at Reimbursable expenses include:

  • Conference registration
  • Cost of conference hotel accommodations
  • Per diem allowance possible depending on location
  • Travel arrangements up to $350 (coach airplane tickets, taxis)
  • Total available: Up to $1,500 per person

How will funding be released?

To receive the sponsorship funding, applicants must make arrangements to attend the conference according to UB travel guidelines, retain all original receipts and records obtained throughout the registration and attendance process, and complete all relevant paperwork provided by GEM and/or the University at Buffalo.
