D. Kim Foundation Fellowships

Overview

Established in 2008, the D. Kim Foundation is dedicated to furthering the study of the history of science and technology in modern East Asia (primarily the twentieth century on). The foundation provides fellowships and grants to support graduate students and young scholars who are working in the history of science and technology in modern East Asia, regardless of their nationality, origins or gender. Comparative studies of East Asia and the West as well as studies in related fields (mathematics, medicine and public health) are also welcome. English is the official language of the foundation. All application materials (including sample chapters, papers and essays) should be written in English. All publications, workshops and meetings that the foundation support use English only.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be a PhD candidate who intends to finish their dissertation within 1-2 years or a scholar who received their doctoral degree within the previous five years. The fellowship is open to individuals of any nationality studying at U.S. and non-U.S. institutions.
  • Include an invitation letter from their host institution if applying to the post-doctoral fellowship.
