Guide to EH&S Services

The Office of Environment, Health and Safety functions primarily as consultants to department heads, faculty, staff members and students in all areas of environmental compliance and safety.

Our responsibilities include: developing environmental health and safety standards and policies; identification and assessment of actual or potential health and safety hazards and guidance for minimizing or correcting problems; inspecting campus operations to identify problems and provide code interpretation to assist in correcting problems; maintaining reference materials from local state and federal agencies in regard to safety rules and regulations and assisting the university community in providing appropriate safety training to all staff and students.

UB’s Commitment to Safety: As employees at the university, you have the responsibility to comply with health and safety rules, regulations, policies and procedures issued by UB. These rules and regulations are spelled out in your workplace and in the University at Buffalo’s “Commitment to Safety”. Please take the time to read this document to make sure you understand the safety commitments and responsibilities defined therein.
