About the Division of External Affairs

Our Mission

The Division of External Affairs is charged with creating and strengthening the University at Buffalo's relationships with important partners. Its Office of Government and Community Relations works strategically with elected officials to maximize federal and state funding opportunities, as well as with organizations and leaders to strengthen the university's community ties. Through the Office of Economic Engagement, it serves as a gateway for the regional and statewide business community, facilitating ready access to the programs, services and faculty expertise available at UB, with the end goal of significantly improving the economic vitality of the region and the state. The division tells UB's significant stories to build support among critical audiences through the work of the Office of University Communications. It engages the community through public service outreach, including UB's National Public Radio affiliate, 88.7 FM.

“The University at Buffalo is committed to being an active and engaged partner in our community, a good neighbor as well as a positive catalyst for change.”

Marsha S. Henderson
