Informal Consultation for Students, Employees and Members of the UB Community

A faculty member talking to a student.

Our office is an avenue for assistance and advice for all members of the UB community.  You can schedule an appointment to meet with us or talk to us by phone.

Whether you are experiencing difficulties with a course instructor, are concerned about your work environment, would like to arrange for an accommodation based upon a disability or simply want to explore available options, the Office of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) can meet with you to provide assistance, advice and options.

Confidential Assistance

We are happy to meet with you or speak with you about any workplace or classroom concerns.  We will not disclose your visit or the information you've provided unless we are obligated to redress a situation by law.  If there is severe or ongoing harassment, we may be obligated to take action.  If that is the case, we will notify you and take steps to ensure you are protected.

If you would prefer to remain anonymous, you can speak to an EDI staff member by calling (716) 645-2266 and advising the receptionist that you would prefer not to give your name.  We can provide you with advice and guidance about a situation while allowing you to maintain your confidentiality.

We can assist with situations including:

  • Concerns about harassment by an instructor, supervisor, coworker or student
  • Accommodation requests and implementation
  • Salary equity concerns
  • Child protection issues and questions
