The Program

Some of the fastest growing healthcare positions are in the area of medical billing and coding. UBEOC’s Medical Billing & Coding Specialist program is an intermediate level course in anatomy, terminology, HCPCS (Health Care Common Procedural Coding System), and insurance processing utilizing industry-standard billing software.

Prerequisites

  • Meet TABE requirements
  • Meet typing requirement (25 word per minute with 5 errors or less)
  • Submit resume & two letters of recommendations
  • Submit program interview sheet
  • Complete program interview

You will learn the basics of Medical Billing & Coding procedures  including:

  • Anatomy/Physiology
  • Microbiology
  • Patient Billing Computer Medisoft
  • Patient to Payment
  • Step by step medical coding
  • International Classification of Disease  (ICD9)
  • International Classification of Disease (ICD10)
  • Current Procedural Terminology
  • HCPCS (Healthcare Common Procedural Coding System)
  • Insurance Procedures

Earn Your Certification

Upon successful completion, students receive a Certificate of Completion from the State University of New York Buffalo Educational Opportunity Center.
