What do I need to bring with me when I meet with an Admissions Advisor?

1. PROOF OF INCOME ELIGIBILITY

ONE of the following:

  • GETTING PUBLIC ASSISTANCE?: (food stamps, Medicaid, or cash assistance) Get a budget sheet or case make-up sheet from your caseworker.
  • RECEIVING SOCIAL SECURITY?: Bring a recent award letter.
  • WORKED LAST YEAR AND FILED INCOME TAXES? We need your 1040 form to copy. (If you had someone prepare them, you can bring the whole packet they gave you.) We do not accept W2s or paystubs as acceptable forms of income eligibility.

  • DID NOT FILE INCOME TAXES (for whatever reason) or NEED VERIFICATION OF NON-FILING? Online – Go to www.irs.gov and click on Order a Tax Return or Account Transcript

2. PROOF OF NEW YORK STATE RESIDENCY:

ONE of the following:

  • VALID NYS DRIVER’S or NON-DRIVER’S ID
  • NYS TAX RETURN
  • NYS VOTER REGISTRATION CARD
  • CURRENT SCHOOL ID OR BUS PASS
  • BENEFIT CARD WITH BUDGET SHEET

3. PROOF OF CITIZENSHIP STATUS (if not a U.S. citizen)

  • GREEN CARD or I-94

4. PROOF OF HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA OR GED (for most programs)

ONE of the following:

  • YOUR HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA, GED® OR HIGH SCHOOL EQUIVALENCY DIPLOMA OR
  • YOUR HIGH SCHOOL TRANSCRIPT OR A TRANSCRIPT OF YOUR GED® or TASC  SCORES 

If you don’t have a copy of your high school diploma/transcript, you can go to City Hall. If you need a copy of your GED®, phone 1-518-474-5906 or visit nysed.org and click GED.

* Additional documentation may be necessary after review or upon acceptance into vocational programs.
