Provost’s Message

Dear University Community,
I am pleased to report that the search for the new Dean of the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences is underway. This past Wednesday, the search committee held its inaugural meeting chaired by Professor Alexander Cartwright.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the members of our search committee for their service and for their thoughtful and insightful participation in this process. I would also like to extend my sincerest thanks and gratitude to Professor Mark Karwan for his leadership during the past twelve years as dean of the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences and his continued leadership to the school and to our university.
The search committee is comprised of faculty from across the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences and from many departments that regularly collaborate with faculty from the School as well as a member from the School’s Dean’s Advisory Council. The search committee membership includes:

I have every confidence that under the sage leadership of Professor Cartwright, our search for a new Dean of the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences will be a great success. Throughout the next months as the search moves forward, Professor Cartwright will communicate to the university the committee’s progress in fulfilling their charge.
