The NIH funded T35 training grant entitled “Research in Infectious Diseases, Microbiology and Immunology for Medical Students” awarded fellowships for the summer of 2016 to six first year medical students. The goal of the program is to introduce research experience to medical students early in their training with an eye toward training the next generation of physician scientists.
The summer fellowship includes several elements:

A weekly seminar series
A career development program with interactive small group sessions with faculty
Training in the responsible conduct of research
