Founded in 1846, the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences builds upon its proud legacy of teaching, patient care and scientific discovery. Nearly 800 faculty instruct students at every stage of their professional development.

Kaleida Health is the largest healthcare provider in Western New York, serving the area’s eight counties with state-of-the-art technology and comprehensive healthcare services via five hospitals, two long-term care facilities, and over 80 outpatient clinics. Kaleida Health’s hospitals support UB residency training programs.

This 550-bed medical center is one of the area’s leading health care providers. It serves as a regional center for trauma, burns, rehabilitation and cardiac care, and is the region’s largest safety-net hospital.

This 100-bed, 1.4-million-square-foot facility provides medical, surgical, mental health, long-term and outpatient care to more than 44,000 veterans annually. It serves as a major clinical training site for UB health sciences.

UBMD is the single largest physicians group in Western New York, with more than 500 doctors in 18 medical specialties offering a full range of primary and specialty care. UBMD doctors also teach medical students and residents at UB’s School of Medicine.

GLIN IPA is a clinically integrated network of over 900 healthcare providers and two healthcare systems, Kaleida Health and Erie County Medical Center, that work together to improve access and the coordination and delivery of patient care.

The Institute for Healthcare Informatics is a secure computing center — compliant with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) — that stores, aggregates and innovatively analyzes health care data.

Founded in 1956, the Hauptman-Woodward Medical Research Institute has a rich history of innovation, discovery and education. Its researchers are dedicated to studying the foundations of disease, looking at biology at the same scale as pharmaceuticals. 

The IAD brings together researchers, labs, institutes, and centers of excellence at UB that are focused on advancements in AI, data science, computational science and related areas of research to tackle complex, pressing societal issues of today and the future.

The NYS Center of Excellence in Bioinformatics and Life Sciences is a hub for life sciences innovation and technology-based economic development driving scientific discoveries that directly impact the region’s and state’s economies.

GEM is advancing genome science to help empower people with the tools necessary to understand personal health issues, leading to improved lifestyle choices. Through outreach and engagement related to research, GEM strives to become a national model for increasing literacy in these areas.

The mission of the ECDOH is to promote and protect the health, safety, and well-being of Erie County residents through active prevention, education, enforcement, advocacy, and partnerships.

CoNECT (Community Network for Engagement, Connection and Transformation) is a network of frontline workers, community organizers, and advocates in the areas of healthcare, housing, education, environment, food access, and social services.

The New York State AHEC System is a workforce development initiative focused on increasing diversity by recruiting and training people of all races and ethnicities for careers in health care.

HEALTHeLINK is a collaboration among physician, hospital and insurance organizations to share clinical information in efficient and meaningful ways to improve the delivery of care, enhance clinical outcomes and control health care costs throughout the region. 

The focus of the Buffalo Center for Health Equity is to eliminate race, economic, and geographic-based health inequities in Western New York by changing the social and economic conditions that cause illness and shorten lives among the sickest of the region.
