Maiken Siebert Naylor

Maiken Siebert Naylor, a former UB librarian, died Aug. 24 in Buffalo General Medical Center. She was 74.

Born in Tallinn, Estonia, Naylor moved with her family to Germany and then to the U.S. in 1952, settling in Newburgh, N.Y.

She earned a BA from Vassar College in 1959; a MS from Harvard University in 1960; and a MLS from UB in 1986. She worked as a librarian in UB’s Science and Engineering Library from 1986 to 2000.

Naylor published numerous academic articles and maintained a digital exhibit of her personal collection of stamps related to science, called “Sci-Philately: A Selective History of Science on Stamps,”  on the UB Libraries website.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, John F. Naylor, UB professor emeritus of history.

Funeral services were private.
