Poster Presentations

NeMLA recognizes the significant contribution of visual presentations to the body of academic study of literature and other linguistic constructions. Posters can relay complex information in ways that text alone cannot.

This session is an opportunity for NeMLA scholars, including our yearly Summer Research Fellows, to share visual representations of their research. The format of the session allows presenters to display their work in a casual setting and to engage in informal conversations with convention participants regarding their work at a designated place and time.

Deadlines

  • For non-Summer Fellows, 2018 Pittsburgh proposals are due by the new extended deadline, December 31, at https://www.cfplist.com/nemla/Home/S/17183
  • For Summer Fellows, no proposal is required, as Summer Fellows are required to submit posters.
  • Posters are due December 31 at support@nemla.org.

Layout and Design Formatting

  • Fellows and all contributors whose proposals are accepted are required to design their own posters.
  • Posters should be designed in an appropriate program. Some options include Microsoft PowerPoint, Adobe PhotoShop, and Adobe InDesign.
  • Posters should be submitted in one of the following formats: JPG, PNG, PDF, Adobe PhotoShop, or Adobe InDesign.
  • Posters should be at least 300 DPI resolution.
  • Posters may be in color or black and white.
  • Posters should be 24 x 36 inches.

Printing

  • Fellows and all other accepted poster contributors are responsible for designing and printing their own posters.
  • Please confirm with the convention site/hotel whether printing is available and please confirm prices.

Technology and Presentation Guidelines

  • Due to host constraints, access to technology (including power outlets) may be limited to what presenters provide for themselves. Please email support@nemla.org with any specific requests, questions, or concerns.
  • NeMLA provides easels for all accepted posters.

Summer Fellows

  • In order to receive the allocated funds, applicants will be required to submit receipts as well as a poster (digital or otherwise) detailing their findings by December 31 of the year they received a fellowship.
  • The poster and the receipts should be forwarded to support@nemla.org.
  • The posters will be displayed in the Exhibit Hall for the duration of the Annual Convention following the summer research trip.
  • Fellowship recipients do not have to attend the convention at which their poster will be displayed but have the option of requesting a poster session to give them the opportunity to present their findings in person.
