Research Focus: Rhetoric
I began my teaching career in the speech and rhetoric department of Cal State-Long Beach and fulfilled a visiting assistant professorship at the University of Utah-Salt Lake prior to relocating to Buffalo. I earned a doctorate from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a master’s degree from the University of Alabama-Birmingham, where I received the Distinguished Alumnus Award in 1994. I have published in the Western Journal of Speech Communication, Speech Communication Teacher, and in an anthology on freedom of speech entitled, Silencing the Opposition: Government Suppression of Freedom of Expression. My work experience includes serving as director of development for MD Call in Williamsville and for a non-profit organization in Los Angeles. I also provided community relation services for Delphi Harrison Thermal Systems and provided consultation to Franklin Covey Scientific Services. I serve as assistant coach for the UB men’s tennis team and have coached at Canisius College and Niagara University.
