Educating WNY’s health providers UB graduates make up the majority of licensed medical professionals in Erie County: 92.6 percent of dentists, 67.5 percent of pharmacists and 28 percent of physicians hold degrees from UB. -
Teaching the next-generation of physicians UBMD physicians are training next-generation physicians while serving over 100,000 patients per year -
Advancing the education of health care professionals Each year over 30,000 medical, dental and pharmacy professionals in WNY register in continuing education activities at UB. -
Keeping Pediatricians in WNY The medical school at University at Buffalo and Women and Children's Hospital play key roles in recruiting and retaining pediatricians in the region, atypical to a national trend of medical school graduates passing over primary care in favor of more lucrative practices.
Serving our community

Keeping mouths healthy More than 120,000 community members receive free or reduced cost dental services through UB and affiliated dental clinics. -
Preventive health In partnership with Kaleida Health and the Catholic Health System, UB provides health screenings and flu shots that served more than 1,500 community members in 2006. -
Treating addiction and illness UB social work students provide services at more than 250 locations around the region in schools, addiction treatment centers and hospice programs. -

Practicing wellness UB pharmacy students participate in wellness clinics to provide blood pressure screenings, blood tests and important health information to residents in underserved communities. -

Volunteering expertise During the 2005-06 academic year, UB medical school students volunteered over 4,479 hours at four clinics across the region that serve thousands of patients annually, including homeless women and children, refugees and the uninsured. -
Giving children and their parents a reason to smile Each year, Western New York children who do not have access to dental care receive free dental treatment from UB’s dental school on national Give Kids a Smile Day. | Learn more -
