Summer Learning Opportunities
Here comes the sun, and along with it an illuminating array of camps, clinics, classes, and cultural events for all ages. Everything under the sun for all interests. Stretch out and stretch your mind on campus and in the community this summer.
- ADHD Treatment Programs
The Center for Children and Families offers a summer treatment program for children with ADHD and related problems that incorporates a set of evidence-based treatments into a therapeutic summer day camp. Parents take an active role in their children's treatment by participating in weekly parent training sessions, where they develop the skills needed to change their child's behavior in the home environment and to foster generalization of the child's therapeutic gains. The program has a proven track record of effective treatment for more than 2,500 children and families. - Athletics Camps and Clinics
Athletic summer camps offered in baseball, basketball, football, soccer, softball, diving, swimming, tennis, track and field, volleyball and wrestling. - CADS Summer Program
The Center for Academic Development Services (CADS) Summer Program is a three-week residential program designed to help students preparing for the freshman year of study at UB understand and adjust to the university's environment and culture. - Center for Educational Collaboration
The Center for Educational Collaboration(CEC) offers a variety of summer educational programs for students. Each program is geared for children in a specific age group; offerings are available for children ages 8 through high school. The programs include the Excelsior Scholars Program, Passport STEM, Innovation Station and Wiggle Your Power. - Center for Literacy and Reading Instruction
The center's goal is to bring success to children who are struggling to read or write. Through evaluation, instruction, and planning for reading and writing success, it supports children, their parents and their teachers in traditional literacies and in digital literacies. - Center for the Arts (CFA)
The CFA hosts performing and visual arts events year-round. Summer educational opportunities include "Summer@The Center," a technical theater program for adults, college and high school students who have an interest in the technical aspects of the theatrical arts. - Child Care Center
The UBCCC Summer Camp offers children ages 5-9 hands-on activities, field trips, swimming and other activities on a full or part-time basis. The camp is open to children who are not family of UB staff and students as well. - Eric Pitman Annual Summer Workshop in Computational Science
This intensive two-week summer workshop in computational science for local high-school students is held at the Center for Computation Research in UB’s New York State Center of Excellence in Bioinformatics and Life Sciences. This year's program will focus on computational biology and bioinformatics. It will provide students with experience in computational bioscience on state-of-the-art computing and visualization hardware. - Mini Medical School
The Mini-Medical School offers lectures featuring UB faculty members and invited experts who discuss subjects traditionally covered in medical school in presentations geared to a general audience. - Physics and Art Summer Institute
High school students participating in the institute learn about particle physics, participate in a team project exploring subatomic particles and build a permanent piece for the Physics and Art Exhibition. - UB on the Green
UB on the Green is a free, outdoor, family-friendly festival of music, dance and fun, celebrating summer in the South Campus community. Live performances, hands-on activities and demonstrations are held on the Hayes Hall front lawn from 6:00-8:00pm on Tuesday evenings in late July through early August. - UBThisSummer Lecture Series
2010 marks the fifth anniversary of the UBThisSummer Lecture Series, which presents an outstanding lineup of prominent UB faculty speakers who share their enthusiasm and knowledge about a wide array of topics. The lectures will be held on Wednesdays between June 10 and Aug. 5 on UB's North Campus. - University Community Farmers Market
The University Community Farmers Market is a collaboration between the University at Buffalo, the surrounding South Campus neighborhoods and local organizations to promote wellness and community sustainability through the availability of fresh produce and locally grown food. The 2011 market will run Saturdays May 21 - October 15 from 8:00am -1:00pm on the South Campus on Main St at Kenmore Ave in Buffalo.
