Dropping off Operation Doorhanger bags in the University District

Each year before the start of the academic year, UB distributes kits containing tips on how to be a good neighbor as well as other important information to students and neighborhood residents.

Organized by the UB Office of Community Relations, Operation Doorhanger is a part of the university’s continuing efforts to encourage community building and to make the South Campus neighborhood a better place to live.

Bags are hung on the door handles of about 1,500 homes to encourage students and lifelong residents to stay safe and work together to improve their community.

Past packets have contained an off-campus renters’ checklist to help evaluate a rental unit’s fire and life safety, as well as information about the University Heights Tool Library; a list of participating businesses that offer special discounts to UB students, faculty and staff; coupons from local businesses; and flyers for upcoming community events.
