This Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences commencement ceremony is only for students graduating from the MD program.
You are invited to participate in this commencement if you are an MD candidate planning to graduate in 2020. Candidates will receive information about commencement in January.
Registration for the commencement ceremony is separate from applying for graduation (degree). If you plan to participate in the commencement ceremony, you must register for it.
Please register online. A registration link will be posted here on January 14. Registration deadline: March 20.
In the Tickets and Guest Information section below, please see the information marked "For Your Safety -- Prohibited Items." This information applies to graduating students as well.
Students are to report to the Center for the Arts at 12:30 p.m. and follow signs to the student robing room. Students will receive further instructions at that time.
The ceremony will run no longer than two hours maximum. If you plan to attend the post-ceremony reception, take some photos and then return your gown as required in the CFA basement, you can plan on leaving the CFA by approximately 4:30 p.m.
There are no admission tickets for this ceremony. Participating degree candidates may invite as many guests as they desire.
Guest seating opens 1 hour prior to the ceremony start time and is general admission (first-come, first-served).

Children, toddlers and infants are welcome as guests at all commencement ceremonies but please review the guidelines below.
Baby strollers are not permitted in the seats or aisles in the theater because of the safety hazards they pose. Therefore, the use of baby strollers is discouraged. If a baby stroller is necessary, it must be left in the entrance of the theater at your own risk.
If you are with a child who is talking, crying or moving around in a manner that is distracting to the ceremony, you may be asked to step outside the ceremony.

The name of each graduate participating in this ceremony will be announced.

Graduating students participating in commencement wear academic apparel. Order early to make sure you get the appropriate items on time.
Instructions on how to view your name as it will appear on your diploma will be sent to your UB email shortly. Please follow instructions in a timely manner.
Students will receive their diploma at the ceremony as long as they have completed all graduation requirements including having satisfactory grades in all courses and they must have a recorded passing score on both the USMLE CK and CS exam. If you have not completed all requirements, your diploma will be mailed to you once you have; please contact the Office of Student and Academic Affairs for more information.
