    This course surveys the diverse experiences of people of Asian descent in North America. We will examine immigration, community formation, citizenship, race relation, war and imperialism, culture and memory through a selection of historical, literary, and visual texts. Key topics include the passage of Chinese Exclusion Acts, the Korematsu case and WWII internment camps, The Murder of Vincent Chin, L.A. Uprising, the "Model Minority" stereotype, war refugees, the birthright citizenship debate, and recent issues facing Asian American students in higher education.
