      Course Description
    ELP 574 provides an overview of current educational issues in Asian society in re-articulating national and international context. The course covers central themes issues and controversies including the relationship between family of origin and educational outcomes in highly centralized and standardized education systems The course additionally pays close attention to globalization and its impact on education in Asian countries. Topics and issues to be explored in the ELP 574 include overview of Asian education systems education fever e g the trend of high parental investment in child education in Asia and equity in Asian education e g student socioeconomic status gender and geographical location in relation to access and outcomes.
