    MUS 109 ? Master Composer: J.S. Bach The life and music of Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750). Emphasis will be on listening to various pieces of Bach?s music spanning his entire creative output, as well as researching Bach?s life to contextualize the music. Lectures will be presented outlining Bach?s biography, influences, major genres and recurring features of his musical output. Students will be expected to research and write short essays on four selected works throughout the course. There will also be four exams, including cumulative midterm and final, consisting of listening identification and term definitions. Designed for the nonmajor. Requires no background in music.
